DESCRIPTION
According to the difference between a deep appreciation of local culture and picking up popular attractions as a commemoration, Shigeru Kashima distinguished travelers from tourists based on the 19th century vision. Also, the Japanese philosopher Hiroki Azuma contrasted the tourists and the travelers, he analyzed and proposed the political possibility of the tourists – the weak force of the moving body and how to possible to rebuild the environment. At the same time, we can further ask from travelers and tourists about how it is impossible.
In tourism literature, we can also see the turn of the viewpoint of post-literary study in the 1960s and the invention of travel experience in Taiwan after lifting the ban against sightseeing in the late Cold War period, such as Zhu Tianxin’s “The Ancient Capital”.The talk will base on my experience of Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale 2018. I will discuss the evolution of contemporary art in the non-institutional ecology through activities in the long-term local renewal, and to revisit the possibilities of sightseeing and art.
